San Diego Series - 1

© Sunil Joshi | Frame No. 36

The wooden roller coaster on Mission Bay Beach in San Diego seems like an anachronism to the smooth, glistening monsters of today found at Six Flags, Sea World and other amusement parks. Yet the ride on these roller coasters has the power of taking us back to the era when the best material engineers had available to them was wood and steel and they had to use their ingenuity to create the smoothest possible ride. This roller coaster lives unto the expectations, never coming any where close to the speed of its modern brethren, but giving an exhilarating ride filled will all the bumps and jolts common in the old era roller coasters.
